- 5Empty the car completely. Cargo insurance does not cover personal items, and loose objects mark interiors.
- 6Photograph existing chips, curb rash, and paint correction work in daylight before pickup.
Insurance and valuation
Ask for the carrier certificate of insurance and check the per-vehicle cargo limit, not the per-load limit. A $250,000 per-vehicle limit on a $400,000 car leaves you exposed for the difference. For anything above the limit, either request a carrier with higher cargo coverage or arrange a transit rider through your own agreed-value insurer for the shipping window.
